For over 30 years I have had a passion for fine art photography. I especially love good black and white images. While color is beautiful, I favor the rendering of fine tonal gradations, rich textures, brilliant contrasts, and fine detail that good black and white images provide.
Until recently, I used 4 X 5 view cameras with black and white film from which I made selenium-toned prints on archival fiber based photographic papers. I made the transition to digital photography in 2009, after I concluded that digital had matured to the point that it equals or exceeds the capabilities of film and darkroom processing.
Most of the black and white images presented in this website were scanned from 4 X 5 film. Recent images were made with the Canon 5D Mark II digital camera as were most of the color images. I now make my prints using the Epson 7900 printer, Ultrachrome K3 inks, and Epson Exhibition Fiber Paper. This combination produces more brilliance and deeper blacks than any photochemical process I've used.
I hope you enjoy the images on my website.
